Camouflage, Worry Stones, and an Unbearable Sweet Tooth

I started working on some new stuff today.

Last night, I was reading and learning about creating ‘canes’ out of the clay, to create new patterns and shapes. So this morning, at like 5 AM, I got up and started making my first ‘official’ cane!

There really wasn’t much to see, but I was thrilled with the outcome. I didn’t know what to expect. I just grabbed a couple of colors I liked adding them to my cane until I created a visually interesting pattern. Then I cut slices off the cane, rolled it out with my acrylic roller and voila – I had made a desert camouflage pattern! You can view the jewelry pieces below, or in my shop.

I love the way they turned out! And they are beautiful without a glaze, so I didn’t add anything extra, just jewelry fittings.

I’ve also been seeing these ‘worry stones’ everywhere. I didn’t know what all the hype was about, so I made my first one and immediately could see the value in rubbing your thumb on it to ease anxiety. As someone who struggles with mental health issues, I absolutely love these. So I made three of them just to get started. My first one, was for me (a dark blue bear), then I made a kitty cat worry stone to sell, and my mom actually wanted one, so I made her a brown bear worry stone.

The cat is available in my store, the others are gifts. I might get into making quite a few more of these, as I can see the value in having one to ease your worries. What do you think? Do you like worry stones? They are super cute, and just slip in your pocket, perfect for relieving stress on the go!

Other than make these, I did relax a bit this afternoon. I am going to be working tonight and tomorrow, and want time to unwind, before I jump into it.

Also, I have to admit I have a huge sweet tooth right now, and I haven’t found anything to satisfy it yet. I am trying to let the urge pass and do the right thing, but it’s not easy to do. I considered going to pick up some fresh picked strawberries, since it is the season, however, they closed before it even popped in my head!

Tomorrow is Father’s Day, and my dad will be out of town spending at the Detroit Tiger’s ballgame! He is very excited, as he should be. Not to worry, we celebrated him earlier this month, with a new Weber Grill.

I hope you all enjoy your day!

Until next time —-

~Melissa
